Random Thought

I'm gettin' nuttin' for Christmas, because I contributed to the greenhouse affect, which is melting polar ice caps. We're melting the North Pole where Santa Clause lives; he's mad.

I've been looking for those lyrics since I got the CD (Let It Snow Baby, Let It Reindeer) last Christmas. <3 Relient K

Peace, (and amour I suppose)

Six Word Memoir

So I saw this on Stephen Christians blog, basically its your memoir in 6 words.
Being only 15 I feel like I might now have enough experiences to preform this task in full but I will do my best:
another lonely soul finding her place
hm... so, people that I happen to read this, (whether I send it to you or not) what's your six word memoir?

peace,

Family

Here's another part to the story =)

Family
"Hey Alex." I heard a voice pulling me back into consciousness. "Alex! Wake up!"
"Humph…" I sighed in response, "what day is it?"
"Sunday, approximately six am. We have to get over to that kids church on Fifth Ave by nine." James answered, sounding pleased with himself for getting me up.
"And you're waking me up at six because....?"
"Its five miles away and I figured we could get some food."
"Oh good point. Okay I'm up now!" I pulled myself into a sitting position wrapping myself in my tattered sleeping bag. "How much do we have left from yesterday?"
"Three dollars and... fifty three cents" James replied counting change in his palm. "What do you feel like having? The world is ours!" He snickered at that last part and I couldn't help but grin.
"Um... lets start walking."
And off we went. We ended up stopping at a little cheap diner along the way, but that's not important. After two years on the street (and the squatter house where Mike and Hallie lived) we pretty much knew where the cheapest places to eat are.
By eight we were in front of the church, feeling strangely lost. Until we heard a familiar voice:
"Alexandria! James!" we turned at the sound
"Hello there Adam" I said brightly. I felt extremely out of place in my torn jeans and old navy blue sweatshirt next to him in his crisp fresh jeans and suit jacket.
"Come here," he said leading us into the tiny church. "My mom wants to talk to you, she is the director of music for the church."
"Uh... Why does she want to talk to us?" James asked.
"Well.." Adam looked a little uncertain. "I told her that you guys were musicians, and I just figured that you were Christians. And she was wondering if you would play something at the service today." He laughed a little. "I thought she was going to have a heart attack when I told her you lived on the streets."
"Um..." I said
"Oh, I'm sorry, do you guys mind singing today?" He looked sad now, wow this kid changed emotions fast.
"No not at all," I said quickly catching James' eyes who nodded at me. "We'd be honored"
"Okay." Now Adam led us into a small hallway, and through a door that said: "Maryam Dumont Music Director"
"Mom?" Adam said knocking on the door and opening it. The door swung open to reveal a young (maybe 30?) Asian woman talking on the phone. I quickly looked at Adam, with his blond hair, green eyes and European features, then at his mom with her black hair, dark brown eyes and Asian features. I guess my reaction read on my face because Adam leaned in to me and said "I'm adopted". Opps, guess I'm easier to read than I thought
The woman (Maryam?) hung up the phone and turned to face us. She looked surprised at first, but then realized who we were.
"Oh! You must be Alexandria and James!" she said with a big grin. "Adam has told me so much about you. "I'm Maryam, Adam's mother." We exchanged greetings and shook hands.
"So," Maryam said, sounding official. "Adam's father and I were wondering if you two would play a song at the service today."
"We would love to." I said with a grin.
"Okay, well I'll let you two decide.
James and I shared a look and nodded. "Have you ever heard of Jon Foreman?" James asked
"Ah yes, I'm a big Switchfoot fan" Maryam replied.
"How about his solo stuff? We were thinking of playing Your Love Is Strong."
"Sounds good!" Maryam replied. "Ah its getting close to starting time, why don't you two take a seat in the front?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We sat in the front pew in the hall. Feeling better and more in place. Adam was dressed up for something after church. Half way through the Pastor (Maryam's husband Timothy) looked our way.
"Now it is my great pleasure to welcome up to the stage James and Alexandria, who are friends of my son Adam."
We walked up guitar in hand, I for one was shaking with nervousness. We started singing and I let the music surround me, suddenly the room disappeared, and I was just in peace. Two things You told me, that You are strong and You love me, yes You love me. I don't know about James, but I definitely felt like a star. Then it was over. People clapped and we walked back to our seats, once again Alexandria and James, homeless on the streets of New York in a small church on Fifth Avenue.
In Awe
So I wrote a little bit of a story, inspired by Under The Overpass by Mike Yankoski
more to come later:
The small group walked up, and I continued playing, and singing, while now watching them with mild curiosity. One boy saw me and my companion playing and wandered over. "You are holy" James sang and I echoed as he approached. We finished the song on a flat note and James cursed as he retuned. "We’re not going to get any money for dinner if this damn guitar won’t stay in tune."
"Stop cursing, " I said to him. "You should know better. "
"Ah sorry Alexandria. " He replied, sounding a little like a child who knew he had done wrong. I suppose this needs a little explanation. James is my brother. When we were young our parents died leaving us with relatives. My aunt Jean and younger cousin Michelle to be exact. Now I got along okay with Michelle, she was only two at the time and I was fifteen. James was sixteen (only nine months older than me) and he got along with no one. When he was eighteen he left. When I was eighteen aunt Jean died leaving me Michelle and a small inheritance (barely enough to stay afloat for a year). I left Michelle with her grandmother and went off to find James.
After a few years of searching I finally found him on the streets of New York. No, he wasn’t a druggie, or an alcaholic, he just couldn’t find work. By this time the inheritance had run out. I had my guitar, and he had his and I had a vast knowledge of Worship songs. We started playing for our suppers and trying to find work. Work never came. Its a year later, in the middle of an economic crisis and we are still here.
The boy still hadn’t moved. We started the song "Praise and Adore" by Wavorly, letting the music fill us and take us somewhere else. I can not stand and deny You created life, and some live without it. The song ended with a ringing note. He was still there. I turned to James
"What day is it? " I asked. You lose track of the days and weeks on the street sometimes.
"Its Saturday, December 24th, 2005" The boy finally said something. His friends were standing watching us with mild interest and concern.
"Thanks kid, " James said turning to me. "Church tomorrow. "
"We shouldn’t go back to the place we were last week. "
"Yeah I know, they got pretty mad when we showed up. I wonder why…"
"I think it was just the fact that we showed up. " I said thinking aloud. "The way the lady looked at us. " I sighed. "Where do you suppose we go?"
"You can come to my church." The boy spoke again. "I’m Adam." He fell silent again.
"Thats very nice of you Adam. Where is your church?"
"At the corner of First street."
"Okay see you tomorrow morning." James said. He was mysteriously quiet throughout the exchange, and that wasn’t like him. I would have to talk to him later.
The boy – Adam – walked back to his friends, and they stood around for a moment and talked. I watched as they started walking back towards a restaraunt when suddenly Adam turned and ran back towards us.
"Hey – How much do you guys need for dinner?" He asked pulling out a wallet.
"Oh don’t both –" I started but James cut me off by putting his hand over my mouth.
"I don’t know, maybe five dollars? We found a pretty good place that sells deli sandwiches for one dollar and fifty cents each" James told Adam. I watched in amazement as this teenager – he couldn’t be more than sixteen, pull out a ten spot and put it in my guitar case. Ten dollars! We hadn’t seen that much money for months! We thanked him again and again, he just kept saying it was no problem, or his pleasure. A thought came to me, how come this kid who probably doesn’t have a job will give us ten dollars, yet men and women who make five hundred thousand dollars a year won’t even give a penny.
We watched Adam walk away, then got up and headed towards the deli, in awe.
Tonight
I love days off of school, I get so much done, and yet I do nothing! Like today for example, I cleaned my room. Yesterday my room was a mess of clothes, books, movies, and tissues (stupid allergies and such) and today everything is put away, and I can THINK!!!! I was about to go downstairs with a book (Under The Over Pass by Mike Yankoski) (good book, I'm half way done with it) but instead I have to go to a Dr's app with my dad. Oh well, the book will be there when I get home. And even though I did this cleaning, I still didn't study for Chemistry (I'll have to do that when I get home....) or finish my english essay. Its a double edged sword. But at least now I can think without my brain tring to work through all the clutter. Thats a nice change!
I added music to the bottom; Dreamer, Tonight, Do You Feel, Headlights, Decode, and Find Me Tonight.
PEACE!
Do You Feel?
Say what you mean
and not because someone said it
you tell me to live
we were meant to live
the beauty of grace is that it makes life not fair
let your waves crash down on me
and take me away
we all have our things
and I can get past these things
maybe our stars are unanimously tired
at least we made it
cuz it aint far to go from here
Say What You Mean
Man, I don't know how to start this.
So today was the Pancreatic Cancer walk in Boston, and my mom had put together a team composing of most of my family and her friends family. In 4 cars we headed out, 21 people in total. My mom and my uncle walked 2 miles (my mom sprained her ankle and my uncle has a bad back) and everyone else walked the 4 mile. Well it was TIRING!! And I'm almost positive that it was more like 5 miles, cuz there was this part at the end where we had to loop around the castle (we were on Castle Island) and it was longer than the beginning. Does that make sense? Eh... I guess you had to be there ;D (and you should be there next year =P) (unless you live out of state haha)
Oh another thing!!! a few days ago I started crocheting, and I'm going to try to make a bag for my friend Sarah =) she made me fingerless gloves a few weeks ago, and they came in last week so I want to make her something for Christmas (I'm thinking of making other boardies Christmas presents... But idk, depends on how long this takes)
I also started this fuzzy thing, which is turning out really badly, cuz the yarn is messed up but It should come out not-too-bad =)
Yeah, I should send Sarah the pictures of the yarn...
So In This Hour...
Heh its been a while...
The leaves have started to change colors :D i took some pictures for my friend Amylynne cuz apparently California doesn't get pretty colors like New England does.
I was bored one night, so i checked Matthew Thiessen's blog and clicked on the video he posted. It was for the song Do You Feel by the Rocket Summer. It's a really good song, so I bought the CD and now im obsessed :D
Also, Anberlin's new CD New Surrender came out last week. Its really good, I've been listening to both NS and DYF for the past few days. Haha my life is dominated by music
Hm... what else?
I don't know...
Oh yeah, I'm going to change the "Lyrics Of The Moment". I'm not sure what they're going to be yet, but I'm thinking The Rocket Summer...
peace,
Katie
